Aveiro is a Portuguese city and district, the birthplace of Feliciano Soares and home of the newspaper O Povo de Aveiro. Nicolau Anastácio de Bettencourt governed the district twice and founded a savings bank there. The steamer Duque da Terceira was wrecked nearby in 1854.
