Madeiran sentenced to five years' exile in Angola for the 1668 revolt, who in 1684 became patron of the Madalena chapel, had it rebuilt and endowed it with a quit-rent on the Quinta das Maravilhas. He was ancestor of a branch of the Miranda family in Madeira.
