Chagas (Fr. Damião das)

He was born in Funchal and died in 1600 on the mainland of the kingdom. He was a hermit friar, whose order had its headquarters in the Serra da Arrabida. He held important positions in his congregation, and Barbosa Machado says that he wrote an ascetic work in two volumes, which was never published.
