Luiz de Vasconcelos Câmara e Sousa was the 31st Count of Castelo Melhor and the 61st Count of Calheta. He was the son of D. Mariana de Alencastre e Câmara, considered the 9th grantee of Funchal, who married João Rodrigues de Vasconcelos, the 2nd Count of Castelo Melhor. Luiz de Vasconcelos should be considered the 10th captain-donor of Funchal.
