Dogfish (Galeus canis) / Cação (Galeus canis)

A cartilaginous fish of the Carchariidae family, somewhat rare in the seas of Madeira. It is usually caught in the coastal region and, like the vast majority of sharks, is considered of mediocre quality. In Porto Santo, it is called 'bico doce do baixo'.

The dogfish of the Portuguese fishermen is the shark known in Madeira as 'caneja'.
