Cabedo (João Octavio da Costa)

He was a native of Funchal and collaborated in the Direito, a former Funchal newspaper, in the Povo de Aveiro, and in the Intransigente, eventually becoming part of the editorial staff of the latter newspaper, from which he disassociated himself when he was appointed administrator of the council of Moita. Brutally attacked with an axe on January 12, 1912, during a strike that occurred in that locality, he died in the hospital of São José, in Lisbon, on the 4th of the following month, at the young age of 26.
