Brito e Nobrega (Ciriaco)

Ciriaco de Brito e Nobrega was born in Funchal on March 16, 1856, and is one of the oldest Madeiran journalists, currently (1923) an editor of Diário de Noticias. In 1875, he translated and published the novel 'Jorge' by F. Arnault, and authored 'The Visit of Their Majesties the Kings of Portugal to the Madeiran archipelago' (Funchal, 1901) and 'The Husband's Pardon' (Funchal, 1901). He wrote, in collaboration with Oscar Leal, 'A Sailor of the 15th Century' (Funchal, 1898). Ciriaco de Brito e Nobrega was a knight of the Order of St. James and an official of the Finance Department of the District of Funchal.
