Brito (D. João Joaquim Bernardino de)

He was the 201st bishop of Funchal, having passed away before personally assuming the governance of his diocese. He was confirmed by the Holy See on August 28, 1819, and took office, by proxy, on May 14, 1820. He then entrusted the management of the bishopric to Dr. João Manuel da Costa e Andrade, a canon of our See, and shortly after passed away in Lisbon on July 26, 1820.
