Adams (J.)

An English doctor who, in 1802, obtained a license from the Governor and Captain General to vaccinate 4 to 6 foundlings every week, who were supposed to go to his house for this purpose. He was, apparently, the first doctor to administer the vaccine in Madeira. Ref.: A Guide to Madeira with an account of the Climate (London 1901).
