Bettencourt (Anastacio Moniz de)
A poet from Madeira who passed away on the island of Terceira, where he resided for many years. On May 18, 1801, he was appointed substitute professor for the chairs of rhetoric and philosophy, which existed in Funchal at that time, and on March 30, 1803, he was appointed professor of rational philosophy. He held a bachelor's degree in canons from the University of Coimbra and was the father of Dr. Nicolau Anastacio de Bettencourt, who also passed away on the island of Terceira.
