Begonia

Genus of the Begoniaceae family, which has a large number of representatives in the gardens of Funchal. Begonia fuchsioides, B. semperflorens, B. rex, and B. maculata seem to be frequent, as well as several remarkable hybrids, mainly known for the beauty of their foliage. The Madeirans also give the name begonia to the large Farfugium, composed of spotted and somewhat fleshy leaves.
