Artillery Battery / Bataria de artilharia
Since June 23, 1877, there has been a permanent artillery force in Madeira, the first commander of which was Captain Henrique de Lima e Cunha, who held this position until January 20, 1878. Before that, the island was garrisoned by artillery detachments from Portugal. The original 3rd garrison artillery company was renamed the 3rd Garrison Artillery Battery on January 1, 1902, and the 3rd Mountain Artillery Battery on June 30, 1911.
