Bartolomeu (João)

By decree of November 10, 1618, he was appointed as the chief engineer of the fortifications that were being built on this island at that time. Manuel Tomás, in book X of the Insulana, makes a very laudatory reference to him. (See Dictionary of Portuguese Architects and Engineers, vol. 2.1, page 34).
