Balsamo (Mesembrianthemum edule)

A perennial plant from the Cape of Good Hope, introduced in 1834 on the island of Porto Santo, where it is now very common. It has opposite, fleshy, and trigonal leaves, and yellowish flowers. It is also found in the gardens of Madeira.
