Azevedo Lemos (José Antonio de)

Colonel-commander of the military expedition that came to Madeira in 1828. He had serious disagreements with the governor and captain-general, the infamous José Maria Monteiro, even going as far as wanting to attack him inside the fortress of S. Lourenco and pointing him out to the Miguelist government as a man who only listened to "an infamous circle of individuals abominable for their vices and bad habits".
