Vieira Portuense

The distinguished painter Francisco Vieira, better known as Vieira Portuense, came to this island seeking relief for his suffering and died in Funchal on May 2, 1805. The death certificate states that he died suddenly at the boarding house of Maria Watror and was buried in the Cathedral.
