Azevedo (João da Costa de Ataide e)

His appointment as governor and captain-general of this archipelago is dated March 1, 1701, and he took office on June 12 of that year. He died in Funchal on March 8, 1704, when his successor Duarte Sodré Pereira had already been appointed.
