Vieira (Augusto Elmano)
He was born in Funchal on October 2, 1892, and graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon, completing the course in 1920. He collaborated in the 'Primeiro de Dezembro' and 'Academico' when he was a student at our lyceum, and later in 'Século', 'Diário Nacional', 'Tempo', 'Diário da Tarde', etc., in Lisbon, and in 'Diário de Noticias' and 'Diário da Madeira' in Funchal. He was one of the leaders of the academic strike of 1919.
He collaborated in the magazine of Madeiran customs entitled 'A Madeira por dentro', which was performed at the Dr. Manuel de Arriaga theater, and in the regional operetta 'A Menina dos Bordados', which was staged at the Paris pavilion. In 1915, when he began his law studies at the University of Lisbon, he wrote the dramatic episode 'A Ultima Bênção', which was published in Funchal in 1917.
Elmano Vieira practices law in Funchal and is a member of the Funchal City Council (1921).
