Mullein / Verbasco

The plants known by this name in Madeira belong to the following species:

Verbascum thapsus, V. floccosum and V. sinuatum. All these species are whitish-tomentose and have large, serrated leaves in V. sinuatum, entire or only toothed in V. thapsus and V. floccosum, the latter species being easily distinguished from the others by its very deciduous tomentum. The yellow flowers and the leaves of the mulleins are emollient.
