Vasconcelos
There are, it seems, four branches of this surname, one descending from Martim Mendes de Vasconcelos, another from Mem Rodrigues de Vasconcelos, who was married to D. Catarina Furtado de Mendonça, the eldest daughter of Bartolomeu Perestrelo, the first captain of Porto Santo, another from Gaspar Mendes de Vasconcelos, who married a daughter of Tristão Vaz, and the fourth from Fernão Tavares de Vasconcelos, a native of Freixo de Numão, who settled in Santa Cruz around the year 1540.
