Azevedo (Antonio Pedro de)

He was born in Caminha on February 7, 1814, and visited Madeira for the first time during the usurpation, at which time he was a infantry ensign. After completing his engineering degree following the restoration of the Charter, he returned to this island, where he held the position of director of Public Works for the District for many years. In 1842 and 1843, together with the officers of the British warship Styx, he surveyed the charts of Porto Santo, Madeira, and the Desertas, which were published in 1877, 1879, and 1886, respectively. He passed away in Lisbon on August 10, 1889, at which time he held the rank of retired division general.
