Some species of the Tinnea genus (Lepidoptera) and the Demvetes vulpinus (Coleoptera) attack upholstery and wool fabrics, while in books, the white larva of an Anobium (Coleoptera) causes great devastation. A lepisma (Orthoptera), with an elongated body and silver color, also causes damage to books and papers. To ward off moths from furniture where clothes are stored, the people of Madeira use peppers, eucalyptus calyces and opercula, camphor, and naphthalene.
