Teles

It is the surname of good families, but it is unknown who brought it to this island. In 1682, António Teles or António Telo de Meneses lived in Madeira and was the founder of the chapel of Santo António in Santa Maria Maior.

The Teles de Meneses descend from Vasco Moniz de Meneses and also, through illegitimacy, from the counts of Vila Pouca.
