Tams (Dr. George)

A doctor on a commercial expedition to the west coast of Africa, promoted by Ribeiro dos Santos, the Portuguese consul in Altona. The expedition's ships called at the island of Porto Santo in July 1841. Dr. Tams wrote a work about the expedition he was part of, with the following title: Portugiesische Besitzungem in Sud West Afrika Mit einem Vorworte von Prof. Carl. Ritter; Hamburg, 1845. This work has been translated into Portuguese and English.
