Silva (João Moniz da)

Upon the death of the prelate of this diocese, D. Estevão Brioso de Figueiredo, the cleric João Moniz da Silva was appointed bishop of Funchal in 1689, but he did not accept the mitre and was not confirmed, so his name is not included in the list of Funchal prelates. In his place, Friar José de Santa Maria was appointed bishop.
