Romeira (Punica Granatum)
Small tree or shrub of the Punicaceae family, cultivated in S. Martinho, Santo Antonio, and other points of Madeira. The infusion of the unopened flowers or the fruit peel of this species is used for gargling against quinsy. The root bark of the Romeira is one of the most effective vermifuges against tapeworm; the bark of the trunk and branches also have tenifugal properties, although less powerful than those of the root.
