Rego

There are several branches of this family, as stated by the distinguished genealogist José Bettencourt da Câmara, who has since passed away: some come from João Rego, a nobleman from the Algarve; others from Gaspar Rego; and others from Vasco Fernandes Rego. The latter two were among the first settlers of Caniço.
