Associação Protectora dos Pobres

It was founded in 1889, at the initiative of the then Civil Governor D. João de Alarcão Velasques Osorio, and its main purpose is to distribute food to the poor and sick. The statutes of this association were approved by the same governor, by decree on May 2, 1880.
