Preces
Caminho Grande or Preces is a place in the parish of Câmara de Lobos. There is the chapel of Nossa Senhora das Preces, which gave the place its name, founded in 1683 by Father Francisco da Cunha e Mendonça. Also in the same place is the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, built in 1757 by D. Maria do Rosário Henriques, widow of Pedro Bernardes Cordeiro. In the area known as Fonte da Rocha, there are still the ruins of an old chapel dedicated to São Cândido, commissioned by Canon Francisco Cândido Correia Henriques in 1732. It has 96 households and 516 inhabitants.
