Pota (Ommastrephes sagittatus)

A cephalopod mollusk that inhabits depths beyond 350 fathoms, but in the summer often appears at the surface of the ocean, especially in the months of August and September. There are specimens that weigh more than 10 kilograms. The taste of this mollusk when fresh resembles that of squid and octopus. The pota is a valuable and much sought-after bait for fishing tuna, swordfish, and other species.
