Portugal (D. Afonso de)
He was the first Count of Vimioso and was present at the Battle of Alcácer Quibir, where he became a prisoner. In 1549, with the authorization of King D. João III, he bought the captaincy of Machico from António da Silveira, of which he was the 6th grantee. He died in Africa, a captive of the Moors, but outlived his son D. Francisco de Portugal.
