Pombo (Columba palumbus)

A columbid bird that inhabits the mountains of Madeira. It builds its nests under the trees, raising two offspring from each brood. It is perhaps the rarest of the pigeon species that nest in Madeira, also known by the names of white pigeon and light pigeon due to its color. There is a variety that is distinguished by having darker plumage and foot color than the typical species.
