Pestana (Dr. Eduardo Antonino)
He was born in Camara de Lôbos on September 8, 1892, and graduated in literature in 1918 and in law in 1920, at the University of Lisbon, also completing the course at the Higher Normal School, which he finished in 1919. He was a teacher at the Pedro Nunes high school in Lisbon, and has been living in Funchal for some time, where he practices law and teaches at the Jaime Moniz high school. While in Portugal, he collaborated in the magazine Voz da Juventude, where he wrote a series of thirty articles on syncretism, in the Economista Português, in the Ordem, etc., and after returning to Funchal, he has published many articles in the Diario de Noticias and the Comercio da Madeira. He wrote: The Catholic Church and the Workers, a lecture given at the 'Circulo Catolico dos Operarios' in Lisbon; Science of Language, a lecture given at the 'Academia de Estudos Livres' in Lisbon; and The Study of Latin, a thesis presented at the Higher Normal School. He is preparing a study on Madeiran folklore (1921).
