Penfold (Jane Wallas)
E.: Madeira-flowers, fruits and ferns–a selection of the botanical productions of that Islands, foreign and indigenous, drawn and coloured from nature ; London, 1845. In 1803, the English merchant William Penfold resided in Funchal, and in 1813, there was the Penfold & Veitch company here. It is likely that Jane Penfold was a relative of that merchant, who resided at Quinta da Achada.
