Passos Freitas (Humberto de)
Born in Funchal, he wrote 'The Ornithological Expedition to the Delta of the Danube' and 'Twenty-one days in a boat', 1923, which describes a maritime tour around Madeira. Passos Freitas daringly facilitated the escape of several political deportees who were imprisoned in the Lazareto de Gonçalo Aires, as mentioned on page 350 of volume I of this Elucidario.
