Palha-Carga

Common name for Festuca Donax, a grass 5 to 15 decimeters tall, with broad leaves and spikelets grouped in large, loose, and sometimes curved panicles. This plant is common in the ravines of the interior of Madeira. The Brachypodium silvaticum, with large spikelets grouped in a slightly inclined spike, is also known as palha-carga in various parts of the island.
