Ornelas (Baron of) / Ornelas (Barão de)

António Evaristo de Ornelas, Baron of Ornelas, was born in Funchal around 1830 and obtained a medical degree from the faculty of Paris in 1854. His thesis for the doctorate had the following title:

Pathological anatomy and treatment of fibrous polyps at the base of the skull, called mesopharyngeal

(Paris, 1854). In 1886, he repeated the exams at the medical-surgical school of Porto, defending the thesis entitled: On the Dilation of the Stomach. The Baron of Ornelas practiced his profession in Paris, where he had a large clientele and where he passed away at the beginning of the 20th century.
