Religious Orders / Ordens Religiosas

The religious orders established in this archipelago were the Seraphic or Franciscan order, as can be seen in more detail in the articles Seraphic Order and Convents, the Jesuit order, to which we dedicated a special article entitled Jesuits, and the Carmelite order, which was in the hospice attached to the church of Carmo, and of which we know nothing more than what we have said in the article dedicated to the same church.
