Araucaria

The tree that the Madeirans refer to by this name is the Araucaria excelsa from Norfolk Island, characterized by its pyramidal shape and its whorled and horizontal branches. It belongs to the Pinaceae family and is cultivated in many estates and gardens in Funchal.
