Murças (Rua dos)

Somewhere it is said that this name comes from the fact that in the past, some canons of our Cathedral used to have their habitual residence in this street, and in the performance of their cultual functions, they used the so-called 'murças', which is a distinctive privilege of the members of the cathedral chapters. It extends from the street of Sabão to Avenida Gonçalves Zarco. Originally, part of it was named Rua do Capitão (see this name).
