Monumento a Câmara Pestana

In the Manicómio Garden, in S. Gonçalo, on a marble column, the bronze bust of the distinguished bacteriologist and great martyr of science Luís da Câmara Pestana can be seen, to which we referred on page 332 of this volume. The erection of this bust took place in 1906.

On November 15, 1913, the doctors of Funchal placed a commemorative plaque in the house where Dr. Câmara Pestana was born, and the street was given the name of the illustrious bacteriologist. (See I-219).
