Monument to the Constitution of 1821 / Monumento à Constituição de 1821
This monument, which we have already discussed at some length (I-302), never went beyond the foundations and was demolished on September 1, 1823. On that occasion, an official record was drawn up, stating that in the foundations of the work, a bottle containing seven issues of the Patriota Funchalense, a manuscript detailing the history of the monument, and a stone box containing a silver one, where the record describing the ceremony of laying the first stone of the monument and a blue and white purse, containing some silver coins and a medal of the same metal, were found.
