Montepio Marítimo Funchalense

It was founded on the initiative of an employee of the Funchal Cable Winch Company and has statutes approved by decree on December 24, 1901. Its main purposes are: to assist members in case of temporary illness, to promote the defense of associates when prosecuted in court, and to provide funerals for members who pass away. It is open to male individuals employed in maritime life, aged between 12 and 60, of good moral and civil behavior.

Medical assistance is also provided to close relatives of the member who live with them.
