Monizia

Genus of the Umbelliferae family, dedicated by the English naturalist R. T. Lowe to the distinguished Madeiran botanist João Maria Moniz. It was published in vol. VIII, page 285, of the Botanical Journal by Hooker, and comprises a single species - Monizia edulis - found in June 1855 on Deserta Grande and later in the Selvagens and Curral das Freiras.
