Araçá

Two species known as 'araçás' are frequently cultivated in Funchal: Psidium littorale (yellow araçá) and P. Cattheyanum (purple araçá). Both are native to Brazil and belong to the Myrtaceae family. Their fruits are tasty, and an infusion of their leaves can be used to combat diarrhea.
