Melro Preto (Turdus merula)

A bird of the Turdidae family, native to Madeira, which builds its nests on small trees, banana trees, etc. The laying of eggs generally takes place in May and June. It has been found in Porto Santo, but does not breed on that island. The males are known for their strong and pleasant singing. The blackbird sometimes has white spots.
