Marroios (Marrubium vulgare)

A perennial herb, common in Porto Santo. It has also been found in the vicinity of the chapel of Piedade, in the island of Madeira, and in the three Desertas. Its flowers are white, and its leaves are ovate-suborbicular, wrinkled, grayish, or whitish. The infusion of marroios is used as a tonic, stimulant, and emmenagogue.
