Marmeleiro (Cydonia oblonga, subespecie maliformis)

Shrub of the Rosaceae family, subfamily Pomoideae, originally from the southwest of Asia. It is cultivated in Madeira, where its fruits are highly sought after for making quince marmalade. The juice of the quince is useful for diarrhea, and an infusion of the seeds can be used for coughs.
