Manuel de Castro (Rampa and Bridge of D.) / Manuel de Castro (Rampa e ponte de D.)

This public thoroughfare was named after D. Manuel de Portugal e Castro, who was the Governor and Captain General of this archipelago from 1823 to 1825. He ordered the construction of the bridge and the widening of a narrow ramp that existed there. It is located between the southern end of Rua Direita and Rua 5 de Outubro, in front of Travessa dos Açougues, which connects to Rua dos Tanoeiros.
