Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora)
Tree from North America, widely cultivated in the estates and gardens of Funchal. It blooms in May and June.
The Madeirans also give the name magnolia to Osmanthus fragrans, a shrub of the Oleaceae family originating from Japan, which produces small white and fragrant flowers.
The garden magnolia in Camacha and other locations belongs to the genus Magnolia and the Magnoliaceae family, being highly appreciated for its aroma.
